The New Benchmark of Efficient Hygienic Design: Tube Valve Body for Diaphragm Valves

Diaphragm valves are key components of hygienic system design. Cast and forged body diaphragm valves are the standard options here, both of which introduce their own unique benefits but share a number of weaknesses including: weight, ease of installation, carbon footprint and thermal mass. Recognizing these challenges and identifying the need for a solution, Bürkert has developed hydroformed tube body diaphragm valves which will revolutionize the diaphragm valve market and in turn change the way the hygienic industry approaches hygienic system and plant design.

Tube valve bodies are more efficient and environmentally friendly than any other diaphragm valve technology from time of manufacture through to disposal. Minimization of raw material mass combined with Bürkert‘s patented eco-friendly hydroforming manufacturing technology, greatly diminishes your overall carbon footprint of production. Through the reduced material used, the energy requirement and the heat-up or cooling phase duration of the plants are reduced during the sterilisation processes. Thus energy costs are lowered and downtimes are reduced. Laboratory testing demonstrates steam savings of up to 53.8% in SIP cycles translating to substantial energy savings. The manufacturing process is also designed to be more environmentally-friendly. When manufacturing a DN 25 cast valve body, almost 7,000 grams of CO2 are released; the value for the new Bürkert tube valve body is just over 2,000 grams.

Your plant is a showcase for your brand and a physical projection of your commitment to product quality and uncompromising hygienic manufacturing processes. Finish and functionality perfectly compliment Bürkert‘s ELEMENT series of control heads and positioners. The new tube valve body can be used with EPDM or PTFE diaphragms, both of which have excellent hygiene and chemical resistance qualities. It can be coupled with Type 2031 CLASSIC pneumatic actuator – ideal for centralized automation with valve islands – or with Type 2103 ELEMENT pneumatic actuator – ideal for decentralized automation. Alternatively, a combination with the manual actuator Type 3233 is possible.
