Automated flavour dosing for products containing vinegar
Closed-loop control and dosing of flavourings for vinegar products in food and for other purposes – The cooperation with Charbonneaux-Brabant
As a leading partner in the industry, the Bürkert Group offers global and customised solutions that make it possible to solve problems related to the most complex and demanding industrial processes.
The history of Charbonneaux-Brabant
Charbonneaux was founded in 1797 and originally produced soap before gradually specialising in the denaturation of alcohol.
The company’s activities developed over time under the influence of the Charbonneaux family for six successive generations from 1797 to 1962. In 1962, Charbonneaux joined the Brabant family group, a major player in alcohol distillation. With the takeover of the vinegar producer Société Gouthière Detré in 1966 and Maison Florida in 1975, Charbonneaux-Brabant began its expansion into the food sector with the production of vinegar and mustard.
The project
The company worked with Bürkert France to implement an automation project that enabled direct dosing of flavours in a packaging line for 5-litre canisters that were previously filled with blends produced in tanks.
In order to improve flowability and achieve better volume control, Charbonneaux-Brabant was looking for a more flexible solution that would make it possible to inject the flavourings directly into the lines, thereby optimising the times between batches and reducing water consumption during the cleaning and rinsing phases.
“We were satisfied with Bürkert’s support right from the start and plan to transfer the process to other applications, in particular the dosing of flavourings for household alcohol, which are subject to ATEX directives and for which our partner has proven expertise.”
