The fastest flow sensor with differential pressure principle for your laboratory device

Life sciences and healthcare are among the fastest-growing industries in the world. Here, laboratory tests are often the basis for diagnoses and treatments. High-performance laboratory devices that deliver reliable results quickly are indispensable in this context. With our Type 8084 flow sensor for continuous flow measurement, you can improve the safety and reliability of your devices on a lasting basis.

What the Bürkert Type 8084 flow sensor can do for you

Are you developing laboratory and analytical devices and looking for technical solutions to ensure the analytical processes are carried out correctly in the device? Our Type 8084 is the perfect choice here:

Robust

No interference from air bubbles

No loss of information

The medium is continuously sampled at 100 Hz

Dynamic

Detects drops from 20 µl thanks to short reaction time

The differential pressure method

With this method, the flow of liquids is measured indirectly via the pressure difference via an orifice. This robust measurement method provides fast and reliable results.

Our Type 8084 flow sensor uses precisely this differential pressure technology.

Unique performance: Type 8084 in action

Type 8084 was specially developed for precise flow measurement in dynamic dosing and cleaning processes. Whether it is pumps or dosing valves, the sensor monitors the components even in demanding applications. The results are documented, making the process more reliable.

Thanks to its continuous sampling at 100 Hz, the sensor reliably detects even short-term events such as pulses from the pump or air bubbles – regardless of the set readout interval. Droplets as small as 20 microlitres can be reliably detected, making it ideal for many industrial and analytical applications in laboratory automation, dosing and process control in laboratory devices.

Type 8084 could, for example, regulate the following applications for you:

  • Reagent supply for pipetting and dosing solutions
  • Monitoring of the cleaning process
  • Nutrient supply in bioreactors

The advantages at a glance

How the Type 8084 flow sensor makes processes more reliable

Medical diagnostics are often based on laboratory tests. The processes in the analysis device must therefore be absolutely reliable. This applies to the actual analyses as well as to cleaning. As a manufacturer of laboratory and analytical devices, it is your responsibility to ensure this. Reliable technical solutions are essential here so that the laboratory staff – and, later on, the attending doctor – have the necessary information in order to ensure the best possible treatment for the patient. What might this look like in practice?

How the flow sensor contributes to reliable cleaning

Chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) are used in disinfection. Since H2O2 is very reactive and releases gas, measuring the exact amount of liquid is difficult in this case. Nevertheless, you must ensure in the device that a sufficient amount of disinfectant has been used to guarantee safe and reliable processes. This is where our flow sensor comes in. Unlike conventional flow sensors, our sensor is insensitive to gas bubbles and thus measures the exact quantity of H2O2 that arrives at the destination, even if the oxygen is outgassed. This achieves the optimum disinfection result, which can also be documented via digital recording of the signals.

How the flow sensor monitors your media flow

All components must work perfectly to enable reliable analysis in laboratory devices. Components such as pumps must therefore also be monitored in order to quickly detect any faults. The aim here is to ensure that the correct amount of the medium has been used. Due to its high dynamics, the flow sensor allows very fast and accurate flow measurement. Changes in the flow are reliably detected and can be reported to the user. Pulsating flows and outgassing media are no problem either – our flow sensor measures the net quantity of the medium.
