Pivoted armature and plunger solenoid valves

Bürkert has a solenoid valve for every occasion. No matter what your application, we have a specialist valve for you. Our best-selling range of pivoted armature solenoid valves and plunger solenoid valves each offer a high performance solution for a host of different industrial settings.

What is a Pivoted Armature Solenoid Valve?

Pivoted armature solenoid valves from Bürkert have all three port connections integrated into the body of the valve. This places them all in the same plane and therefore makes connection design easier. Equipped with a lockable manual override as standard, our pivoted armature valves have the option of a visual position indicator or an electrical feedback.

Available in 2/2 or 3/2 way configuration, the design uses an isolating diaphragm, ensuring that no fluid enters the armature chamber. This makes pivoted armature valves more resistant to contamination than plunger-type valves. It also guarantees a higher resistance against aggressive fluids and provides a longer service life. Little wonder then that our pivoted armature solenoid valve design has endured for more than 50 years.

Bürkert developed the pivoted armature solenoid valve back in the 1960s and, with its numerous configuration possibilities, the pivoted armature valve quickly became a versatile classic. It can be used as a direct-acting 2/2- and 3/2-way solenoid valve or as a pilot valve for servo applications. Due to the encapsulation of the coil and mechanical parts, the pivoted armature valve is ideal for applications involving critical media.

The Bürkert Solenoid Valve Type 0330 is a direct-acting, media-separated pivoted armature valve, available in 3/2- and 2/2-way versions. Various diaphragm material combinations and methods of operation are available, depending on the application, and as a 3/2-way it can be used as a distributor or mixing valve. The standard brass housing satisfies all European drinking water requirements. While stainless steel (316L), PVDF, and polypropylene housing versions complete the offering.

Features and benefits of the Type 0330

  • Direct-acting, media-separated valve with diameter of up to DN 5.
  • Maintenance-free pivoted armature technology.
  • Vibration-proof, block screwed coil system.
  • Suitable for aggressive alkaline and acidic solutions.
  • Service-friendly, robust manual operation.

What is a Plunger Solenoid Valve?

Direct-acting 3/2-way plunger-type solenoid valves, such as our Type 6014, have three ports and two valve seats. Alternately, one valve seat is always open or closed. The circuit function of the valve depends on how the ports are ‘assigned’ or, in other words, how they are connected to the fluid system. In each switching state, two of the three ports are connected. By activating the solenoid, the valve switches state and a different connection between the valve ports is established.

Plunger solenoid valves are special control valves, designed specifically for control tasks in water supply. Unlike gate valves and butterfly valves, which are mainly used as shut-off valves, plunger valves meet the special requirements of control operation. Plunger valves are mainly used where volumetric flow rates need to be precisely apportioned or where water pressures have to be accurately controlled or reduced.

The Bürkert Solenoid Valve Type 6014 is a direct-acting plunger valve. The stopper and plunger guide tube are welded together to enhance pressure resistance and leak-tightness, and a selection of seal material combinations are available, depending on the application. A Bürkert-specific flange design enables space-saving arrangement of valves on a manifold. Furthermore, optional manual actuation enables quick commissioning and easy maintenance.

Features and benefits of the Type 6014

  • Direct-acting, compact valve with diameter of up to DN 2.5.
  • Vibration-proof, bolted coil system.
  • Banjo threaded connection for direct mounting on pneumatic valves.
  • Service-friendly manual override.
  • Energy-saving pulse versions.
