Troy Stehr joins Bürkert in the role of Industry Account Manager – Lab & MedTech

We are pleased to announce that Troy Stehr has joined Bürkert UK in the role of Industry Account Manager – Lab & MedTech, Field Segment Manager .micro. Get to know Troy here!

Bürkert has grown its team with the addition of Troy Stehr as Industry Account Manager – Lab & Medtech. A technical sales expert with a passion for problem solving, Troy will be providing support to customers in the medical, laboratory, inkjet, genomics and chemistry sectors.

Microfluidics is the precise measurement and control of fluids at low flow rates, allowing processes to be scaled down to optimise use of resources, improve efficiency and maximise cost effectiveness. Systems in this sector are often bespoke, requiring custom control solutions and close engineering collaboration between user and solutions provider. This hands-on, technical sales support is exactly what Troy will be providing to Bürkert customers.

“I am delighted to join a company that puts engineering problem solving at the forefront of its work,” says Troy. “Bespoke systems really put the emphasis on us to deliver a control solution, and I’m looking forward to working in partnership with our customers to develop exactly what’s needed for their applications.”

Troy offers extensive experience in the technical and practical application of fluid control technology. His years as a technical sales expert for a multi-national mass flow controller distributor and his proven track record in supporting complex system implementation, ensures he can fully support the complete development process. Furthermore, Troy’s apprenticeship in metrology and electronics during his time in the U.S. Air Force guarantees a comprehensive engineering knowledge.

Outside of work, Troy enjoys the outdoors, where he can often be found working in the garden with his two cats or in the countryside on his bike.

How did you get into the world of fluid control?

It began in the USAF where I was taught electronics and metrology as an apprenticeship.  After that I joined a company that was the then distributor for MKS Instruments, repairing and calibrating MFCs, Capacitance Manometers and other pressure and vacuum control instrumentation before progressing onto bigger, customised systems.

What is it that attracted you to Burkert?

Unique and technically excellent products, but more importantly for me, Burkert is highly focused on being the solution for the customer’s control issues.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

A cook!  Problem was that I gravitated to and was particularly good at baking cakes, cookies, pies… and even better at consuming them….

What is your pet hate?

The lack of a full spare tyre in cars!

Favourite film of all time and why?

‘Alien’ without hesitation. An absolute all time classic of Science Fiction from Ridley Scott.  Deeply atmospheric with the graphics from H.R. Giger, you become convinced it is time to abandon all hope before it turns. …or possibly Fritz Lang’s ‘Metropolis’ from nearly 100 years ago.  An equal classic but prophetic about our world now. (don’t make me choose!)

Favourite music artist of all time and why?

Will a band do instead of artist?  Pink Floyd, with Muse a close second.

What would be your last meal on earth?

Proper Italian pizza, popcorn with LOADS of salt and butter because hey who cares about blood pressure when it is your last meal (and sweet popcorn is against the laws of nature!) and to finish a whole tub of half melted Ben and Jerry’s Belgian chocolate ice cream.
