Bürkert Pneumatic Control Valves

Bürkert has developed several types of pneumatic valves and electropneumatic process controllers that offer exceptional control characteristics. For hygienic or other demanding environments, Bürkert is certain to have a suitable pneumatic flow control valve or controller for the job.

Digital electropneumatic process controller – Type 2301

Digital electropneumatic process controller – Type 2301

The construction of the Type 2301 globe valve fulfils tough criteria for process environments. Unrivalled cycle life and sealing integrity is guaranteed by the proven self-adjusting spindle packing with exchangeable V-seals. Furthermore, each globe valve body can be fitted with up to five sizes of parabolic trims, which provide a reliable and repeatable characteristic to vary the flow.

The control cones are available in either stainless steel or with a durable PTFE seal or PEEK seal for tight shut-off. While leakage class III, IV or VI are also available. The design enables the easy integration of automation modules, whether they are a digital electropneumatic positioner or process controller. The fully integrated system has a compact and smooth design, integrated pneumatic lines, IP65/67 protection class and superior chemical resistance.

“The Type 2301 is our main pneumatic flow control valve, fitted with a Type 8692 positioner, which is IP65 & IP67,” says Ian Webster, Field Segment Manager Hygienic Processing at Bürkert. “The stainless steel valve body is available from DN04 to DN100 and the interchangeable valve seats and plugs can be sized to flow and pipe dimensions. This valve is suitable for hygienic environments in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries.”

Features and benefits:

  • Excellent control characteristics.
  • High cycle life and maintenance-free operation.
  • Flow optimised body in stainless steel.
  • Several Kvs value per port size due to removable trim kit.
  • Control units can be mounted directly without external tubing.

Digital electropneumatic process controller – Type 8693

Digital electropneumatic process controller – Type 8693

The compact electropneumaticprocess controller Type 8693 is optimised for integrated mounting on the pneumatic actuators in the process valve series Type 23xx/2103 and is specially designed for the requirements of a hygienic process environment. The actual value of the process factor is directly supplied to the device as 4-20 mA, PT100 or a frequency signal and the process controller calculates the setpoint for the subordinated positioner through the variance comparison.

Due to the analogue feedback, all analogue values on the controlling level can be transferred. Plus, with integrated diagnostic functions, operating conditions of the control valve can be monitored. Through status signals, valve diagnostic messages are transmitted according to NAMUR NE107 and recorded as history entries. The parameterisation of process controller and positioner can also be carried out automatically. The easy handling and selection of additional software functions are done on a big graphic display (with backlight and keypad) or over a PC interface.

The positioner registers the valve position without deterioration through a contact-free, analogue position sensor, and the control of single or double-acting actuators is done without internal air consumption. Communication interfaces such as PROFIBUS DP-V1 or DeviceNet, analogue and binary feedback can also be chosen.

  • Compact, robust stainless Steel design.
  • Easy start-up by Tune function for position and process controller.
  • Contact-free position sensor.
  • Integrated control air routing with spring chamber aeration.
  • PROFIBUS DP-V1 or DeviceNet communication (option).

“The Type 8693 process controller has a built in 3-term PID controller,” says Webster. “So, you can connect a process sensor directly to the control valve without the need for an external controller. You can also auto-tune on the PID terms, which makes it easy to set up. Both of these valves will shortly to be available with Profinet, Modbus and Ethernet IP interface.”

Electromotive process valve – Type 3361

Electromotive process valve – Type 3361

The innovative process controller valve Type 3361 is the solution when it comes to demanding control tasks and operating conditions. The electromotive actuator with ball screw positions the control cone with the highest precision. A unique feature is its high positioning speed of 6 mm/s, that reacts quasi delay-free to process signals, and can be varied according to customer demands.

Each flow optimised valve housing can be equipped with up to 5 different valve seats for a precise adaptation according to customer needs. If necessary, the safety position can be approached by an optional energy storage in case of power failure. Actuator and valve are adapted perfectly to each other with closed design and robust surface. This ensures the hygienic requirements of a fast and residue-free cleaning.

Harsh environments are no problem for the Type 3361 due to its IP65/IP67 protection class and its high impact and vibration resistance. Unrivalled cycle life and sealing integrity is guaranteed by the proven self-adjusting spindle packing with exchangeable V-seals. Fieldbus suitable, the Type 3361 provides many helpful functions for process monitoring, valve diagnostics and predictive maintenance.

  • High precision, fast flow control.
  • Several kvs value per port size due to removable trim kit.
  • Weather, impact and vibration resistant design.
  • Easy cleaning by its design according hygienic demands.
  • Position controller und process controller available.

“The Type 3361 electromotive globe control valve is fast acting (taking only 6 seconds from open to close) and offers very accurate positioning and a battery failsafe system,” says Webster.
