Bürkert 3-way process valves

The purpose of a 3-way valve is to shut off flow in one pipe while opening flow in another, to mix fluids from two different pipes into one pipe, or to separate fluids from one pipe into two different pipes. Bürkert has developed an exceptional portfolio of compact, durable and functional 3-way process valves to suit all applications.

What is a 3-way valve?

Characterised by three ports – A, B and C – three-way valves are normally defined by their kvs [m3/h] value, which expresses the volume of fluid that passes through the fully open valve in one hour with a pressure differential of one bar. A three-port valve is normally provided with an electrical, pneumatic or thermal actuator.

Here are three of our best-selling 3-way process valves available today:

Pneumatically operated 3/2-way globe valve CLASSIC – Type 2002

Pneumatically operated 3/2-way globe valve CLASSIC – Type 2002

The pneumatically operated Type 2002 3-way valve is operated with a piston actuator. These maintenance-free and robust valves can be retro-fitted with a comprehensive range of accessories for position indication or manual override. With a standard actuator material of PA, for high ambient temperatures (such as external sterilisation), PPS is also available on request for temperatures up to 140º. The gunmetal 3-way body achieves high flow rates, while the reliable self-adjusting packing gland provides high sealing integrity. Various fluidic circuit functions can also be obtained by a simple exchange of the pressure and service ports.

Features and benefits:

  • Compact.
  • Long service life.
  • Robust actuators with modular accessory program.
  • Gunmetal housing with thread port connection.

Pneumatically operated 3/2-way seat valve CLASSIC – Type 2006

Pneumatically operated 3/2-way seat valve CLASSIC – Type 2006

The Bürkert Type 2006 3/2-way seat valve consists of a pneumatically operated CLASSIC actuator and a 3-way valve body. The actuator is available in either PA or PPS, depending on the ambient temperature. While the valve body can either be specified in stainless steel or a brass/stainless steel variant. Interchanging of pressure and service ports enables different fluidic circuit functions, such as the mixing or distributing of mediums.

The flow-optimised valve body of the Type 2006 allows for excellent flow rates. The tried and tested self-adjusting gland secures a high level of tightness and therefore ensures reliable operation and long service life. The Type 2006 is controlled by a pilot valve or by centralised automation using a valve island and can be easily equipped with an electrical position indicator. The compact Type 2006 is often a cost-effective alternative to two single shut-off valves.

Features and benefits:

  • For mixing or distributing of mediums.
  • Controlled by a pilot valve or centrally by a valve island.
  • Flow optimised body in stainless steel or brass/stainless steel.
  • Long service life and maintenance-free operation.

Pneumatically operated 3/2-way seat valve ELEMENT for decentralised automation – Type 2106

Pneumatically operated 3/2-way seat valve CLASSIC – Type 2006

The Bürkert Type 2106 3/2-way seat valve features a pneumatically operated ELEMENT actuator and a 3-way stainless steel valve body. The flow-optimised valve body allows excellent flow rates and, as with our other 3-way models, the tried and tested self-adjusting gland ensures a high degree of tightness and reliable operation. The directly connected control head and actuator provide a compact and smooth design, integrated pneumatic lines, protection class IP65/67, NEMA Type 4X and a high chemical resistance.

  • For mixing or distributing of mediums.
  • Decentralised automation with control head.
  • Flow optimised body in stainless steel.
  • Long service life and maintenance-free operation.
  • Control head is connected without external tubing.
