Conductivity, conductive

The measuring cell consists of two open electrodes to which an AC voltage is applied.

The medium is in direct contact with the electrodes. The applied voltage generates a current dependent on the resistance of the medium (Ohm's law). The geometry of the measuring cell (area S and distance d) is defined by its quotients K = d/S. The conductivity of the solution is calculated on the basis of this known cell constant K and by measuring the current generated.
