There is never a dull moment at Bürkert UK! In 2019, we achieved a huge amount. We proudly raised funds for deserving local causes, waved a fond farewell to a loyal colleague, and shared ideas about the best methods for putting our customers at the heart of everything we do. Here are just a few of our 2019 highlights.
Raising money for Churn
The Churn Project is a Cirencester-based charity that helps to support vulnerable and marginalised people across the community through a range of activities. The charity helps people to feel less isolated and improves their general wellbeing. Bürkert helped their cause by organising a Curry Cook Off Night that featured more than 10 different curries, ranging from Railway Mutton Curry to Fiery Beef and Beer curry. The team at Bürkert UK dug deep and raised a wonderful £426.11 for this extremely deserving charity.
Bürkert attended the world-famous Hannover Messe exhibition in Germany once again in April. Shining the spotlight on the world of fluid technology, our experts were on hand to demonstrate drinking water analysis with the Type 8905 Online Analysis System, precise flow measurement for more profit, reproducible filling of minimum amounts in minimum time... and much more. As ever, our trade stand proved extremely popular, with a steady stream of delegates eager to exchange ideas and engage in lively discussions with us.
Named as a top employer… again!
A large-scale survey carried out by Focus-Business, Xing and kununu helped to determine Germany's 1,000 best employers for 2019. The results of which determined that Bürkert was again named one of the best places to work in Germany. In the “Machinery and Plant Engineering” sector, we ranked 11th, an improvement of nine places from the previous year. However, in the industry-specific ranking of medium-sized businesses with up to 2,000 employees, we made it into the top five. Sehr gut!
New 8139 radar level meter
Until now, difficult process environments limited the use of radar technology in level measurement. Thanks to the new high-frequency technology and a particularly largedynamic range of 120 dB, our space-saving new 80 GHz Type 8139 radar level meter can now measure in foam- and condensate-forming liquids as well as in media with low reflective properties with an accuracy of ±1 mm. Interfering reflections caused by installed equipment are less common compared to 26 GHz devices and the integrated antenna system reduces dead zones.
Virtual exhibition launched
Fresh for the summer, our Virtual Exhibition underwent a makeover. It now echoes one of our real-life booths and features our latest and greatest products and applications. Visitors can learn about some of our most pioneering products, such as the FLOWave flowmeter, Type 8905 Online Water Analysis System and the Type 8652 AirLINE intelligent valve island through images, brochures and expert interviews. Plus, you can now view our exhibition stand on the OculuGo virtual reality headset for a truly immersive experience!
Ian Webster’s retirement
The word “legend” is bandied around far too readily nowadays. However, newly-retired Field Segment Manager, Ian Webster, has been such an institution at Bürkert UK that he fully deserves that accolade. Ian hung up his demonstration devices for good in September after a remarkable 38 years of dedicated service. A hugely popular figure, Ian was given a fond farewell at a staff gathering in his honour before heading off into the Wirral sunset. Ian will be sorely missed and we wish him a very happy retirement.
Customer centric sales
Bürkert UK hosted a Customer Centric Sales masterclass at our Cirencester headquarters. Sales colleagues from seven other countries – including Turkey, Sweden, Spain, Poland and Austria – joined training delivered by Bürkert General Manager, Neil Saunders, and Bürkert Spain’s Vicente Bolinches. One of our greatest strengths is our international contingency of experts and this was a great opportunity to bring some of them together to share cross-border best practice and learnings to maximise our customer centricity and sales processes.
Hitting our yearly sales target early
The only thing better than hitting a target is to hit it early! We don’t wish to brag (too much at least!), but this is exactly what our amazing sales team here at Bürkert UK managed to achieve. We successfully achieved our sales objectives in November, which was a phenomenal achievement by everyone involved. This is testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire team here at Bürkert UK. We have an extremely talented sales team who receive impeccable support from the wider team at our Cirencester headquarters and beyond.
New 8653 AirLINE Field valve island
The compact new Type 8653 AirLINE Field valve island has been specially developed for the demands of process automation. New diagnostic functions can be visualised using the LC display, both in clear text as well as in symbols, for fast, easy and simple diagnostics that save time during start-up and maintenance. Optimised for use in the field, the Type 8653 ensures constant process reliability through pneumatic functions, such as non-return valves in the exhaust air ducts that eradicate unplanned actuation due to pressure peaks.
From all of us here at Bürkert UK, we’d like to wish you a VERY merry Christmas and a prosperous 2020!
